Bound for Atlanta
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 5:14 PM
The Falcons selected Onianwa in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 231st overall.
Analysis: Onianwa (6-foot-6, 333 pounds) began his collegiate career in a depth role at Rice in 2021 before stepping into a starting role at right tackle from 2022-23 and at left tackle in 2024, though he bumped down to a reserve role at guard upon transferring to Ohio State in 2025 and played just 96 offensive snaps. The 22-year-old projects as a developmental project for Atlanta due to the upside his size and athleticism provide, and as a rookie he could provide Kyle Hinton and Andrew Stueber competition for a reserve gig behind starting guards Matthew Bergeron and Chris Lindstrom.

The Falcons selected Perkins in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 215th overall.
Analysis: Perkins didn't wait long to find the field at LSU, starting for three-plus seasons in Baton Rouge. He racked up 56 tackles and 4.0 sacks as a senior, adding three interceptions and a forced fumble to boot. He's a versatile player who started at multiple positions in college due to his tweener size, and it remains to be seen where he will settle in at the next level. He could play a hybrid safety-linebacker role, but his first order of business is proving he belongs with a good showing in camp.
Tapped on shoulder by Falcons
Sat, Apr 25, 2026, 4:12 PM
The Falcons selected Thompson in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 208th overall.
Analysis: Thompson spent two years at junior college before making stops at Iowa, Western Michigan and Washington over his final three seasons. He started just three games in 2025 and finished with 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. It's concerning that he wasn't a full-time starter in his fifth collegiate season, but Thompson has the raw tools (4.73 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 306 pounds) that make him worth a swing in the sixth round.
Drafted by Falcons

The Falcons selected Daniels in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 134th overall.
Analysis: Daniels (6-foot-5, 242 pounds) actually began his college career as a safety at Oklahoma State, where he was quite productive before transferring to Oklahoma to play linebacker. Daniels' frame is almost certainly linebacker-only at the NFL level, and his 4.79-second pro day 40 additionally ensures he will stick at linebacker for the Falcons.

The Falcons selected Branch in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 79th overall.
Analysis: Branch (5-foot-9, 177 pounds) started two seasons at USC before transferring to Georgia in 2025, where he broke out with a career-best 81 catches for 811 yards and six TDs across 14 games. The 22-year-old lacks size but boasts quick twitch and tremendous speed (4.35 second 40-yard dash), meaning the most natural areas for him to contribute at the NFL-level may be the slot or in a gadget role, as well as potentially in the return game -- a skill set that nicely complements WRs Drake London, Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. The extent of Branch's role as a rookie may be notably determined by how much chemistry he's able to develop with dueling QBs Michael Penix (ACL) and Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. Branch was arrested Sunday and is facing misdemeanor charges.
Lands in Atlanta
Fri, Apr 24, 2026, 7:14 PM
The Falcons selected Terrell in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 48th overall.
Analysis: The younger Terrell reunites with his brother A.J. Terrell, though the two played at Clemson at separate points. Avieon (5-foot-11, 186 pounds) is not as big or athletic as A.J., which is the main reason the latest Terrell fell to the second round. Avieon's athletic testing was possibly affected by a hamstring tweak, which would otherwise explain his 4.67-second pro-day 40. Poor pro day testing or not, Avieon should join A.J. in the starting lineup not long from now.

The Falcons acquired Smith from the Jaguars on Friday in exchange for Ruke Orhorhoro, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Both Smith and Orhorhoro were second-round picks in the 2024 Draft and will get a change of scenery. In two seasons with the Jaguars, Smith appeared in 24 regular-season contests and logged 32 tackles (14 solo), including 3.0 sacks, and four pass breakups.
Bijan Robinson
Bijan Robinson Fifth-year option exercised
Fri, Apr 10, 2026, 3:58 PM
The Falcons picked up the fifth-year option of Robinson's rookie contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The transaction keeps Robinson under contract through 2027 and provides Atlanta more time to negotiate a potential long-term extension, so it's little surprise to see the team pick up the 2023 first-round pick's fifth-year option. Robinson has compiled back-to-back years with over 1,400 rushing yards, and in 2025 he added a 79-829-4 receiving line (104 targets) while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. The star running back also had seven rushing scores and a career-high 5.1 YPC mark in 2025. Even given the uncertainty surrounding Atlanta's offense -- there's a QB battle between Michael Penix (knee) and Tua Tagovailoa looming this offseason, and the surprise retirement of RT Kaleb McGary (leg) has prompted the team to sign Jawaan Taylor -- Robinson is firmly in the mix for consideration as not only the top RB off the board in 2026 fantasy drafts, but as the No.1 overall selection.
Finds home with Falcons
Wed, Apr 8, 2026, 3:19 PM
Taylor agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with Atlanta, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Taylor's deal reportedly carries a base value of $5 million with an additional $1 million in incentives. The veteran offensive lineman projects to step in as the Falcons' new starting RT across from LT Jake Matthews, with Kaleb McGary (leg) having announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday. Taylor has started all 111 of his career regular-season appearances.
Kyle Pitts
Kyle Pitts Signs tag, present for workouts
Tue, Apr 7, 2026, 9:47 AM
Pitts is present for the start of voluntary workouts Tuesday and is signing his franchise tag with the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Pitts and Atlanta will still have until mid-July to negotiate a long-term deal, but without one the 2021 first-round pick will have a $15.05 million salary for 2026. The 25-year-old tight end finished 2025 with an 88-928-5 line on 118 targets while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games. Pitts' major task this offseason will be to establish a rapport with new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who will compete with Michael Penix (knee) for the starting job under center.
Signs with Atlanta
Wed, Apr 1, 2026, 9:18 PM
The Falcons signed Malone on Wednesday.
Analysis: Malone missed the second half of last season on injured reserve with an ankle injury. In four seasons with the Falcons, Malone has appeared in 58 regular-season contests, logging 59 tackles (32 solo), including 3.0 sacks.
May be ready for training camp
Mon, Mar 30, 2026, 12:08 PM
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that there is hope McGary (leg) will be ready for the start of training camp, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McGary missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a significant left leg injury suffered in late August, so while the standout right tackle will remain sidelined throughout the spring, it would be highly encouraging to get him back on the field to kick off training camp. Atlanta's offensive line returning to elite form will be a major priority with Michael Penix working back from an ACL tear and new QB Tua Tagovailoa having consistently battled injuries during his time with the Dolphins.
Tyler Goodson
Tyler Goodson Georgia native signs with Atlanta
Thu, Mar 26, 2026, 12:45 PM
Goodson signed a contract with the Falcons on Thursday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Goodson will likely compete for a depth role in training camp behind Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson. Atlanta also has Nathan Carter and Carlos Washington under contract at running back. Goodson recorded 54 carries for 264 yards and one touchdown across 33 regular-season appearances for the Colts over the past three seasons while adding 19 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown on 27 targets.
Brian Robinson
Brian Robinson In line to sign with Atlanta
Tue, Mar 24, 2026, 12:50 PM
Robinson is expected to sign with the Falcons, Matt Zenitz of CBSSports.com and NFL reporter Jordan Schultz report.
Analysis: A third-round pick in 2022, Robinson spent the first three seasons of his career with Washington while producing between 733 and 799 rushing yards in each campaign. He was dealt to the 49ers last August and served as Christian McCaffrey's top backup in 2025, turning 100 touches into 425 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs. Considering he'll be working behind another workhorse back in Bijan Robinson for Atlanta, the former Commander and Niner likely will take on a similar workload in his new locale.
Trevor Siemian
Trevor Siemian Finds gig with Falcons
Tue, Mar 24, 2026, 9:44 AM
Siemian is signing a contract with Atlanta on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Siemian provides the Falcons with a No. 3 quarterback option behind Michael Penix (knee) and Tua Tagovailoa, who are expected to compete for the starting role. The last time Siemian saw regular-season action was 2023, when he logged five appearances with the Jets and threw for 724 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. He spent time on the Titans' practice squad in 2024 and 2025.
Being traded to Falcons
Fri, Mar 20, 2026, 4:05 PM
The Eagles are trading Brown to the Falcons, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Atlanta is sending picks No. 114 and No. 197 in the 2026 NFL Draft to Philadelphia in exchange for Brown, picks No. 122 and No. 215. Brown, who turns 26 on Saturday, is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he recorded 34 tackles in 17 regular-season games with the Eagles. With the Falcons, the 2023 third-rounder will have a chance to step into a key role in his new team's safety corps while also offering special-teams ability.
Headed to Atlanta
Tue, Mar 17, 2026, 9:38 PM
The Falcons signed Hand to a contract Monday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Hand is a nine-year NFL veteran who spent 2025 with the Chargers, tallying 29 tackles (including 1.5 sacks) along with four defensed passes (including an interception) over 13 regular-season games. He should compete for a starting role with Atlanta.
Frees up cap space
Mon, Mar 16, 2026, 12:15 PM
Terrell agreed Monday to convert $12 million of his salary for 2026 into a signing bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Terrell's restructure frees up further cap space for the Falcons to operate in free agency. The star cornerback logged another impressive season in 2025, when he suited up for 15 regular-season games and totaled 68 tackles (49 solo), 12 passes defensed and two forced fumbles. He stands to continue anchoring Atlanta's secondary for the foreseeable future, as he remains under contract through 2028.
Tua Tagovailoa
Tua Tagovailoa Puts pen to paper with Falcons
Fri, Mar 13, 2026, 3:53 PM
Tagovailoa officially signed his one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Falcons on Friday.
Analysis: Falcons GM Ian Cunningham confirmed Friday that Tagovailoa will compete with Michael Penix (knee) for the starting quarterback role in Atlanta, per Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com. Both are oft-injured left-handed quarterbacks, but Tua is the healthier of the two at the moment, as he passed a physical in order to effectuate his contract with Atlanta while Penix is recovering from November surgery to repair a torn ACL. Penix has a chance to be ready for the start of the regular season, but Tagovailoa could have the early edge in Atlanta's QB competition while Penix works his way back into form.
Michael Penix
Michael Penix GM confirms QB battle with Tua
Fri, Mar 13, 2026, 2:29 PM
Falcons GM Ian Cunningham confirmed Friday that the team is bringing in Tua Tagovailoa to compete with Penix (knee) for the starting quarterback role, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tagovailoa has agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Falcons and will join the team if he passes his physical. Both Penix and Tua are left-handed quarterbacks who have dealt with numerous injuries. Penix underwent surgery in November to repair a partially torn ACL in his left knee, but he's aiming to be healthy ahead of Week 1. Once healthy, Penix is slated to compete with Tagovailoa for the starting job.
